DRESS CODE RULES

The Main Committee may, at its discretion and from time to time, determine the standard of dress which shall be considered acceptable within the precincts of the Club and the Gymkhana Sections.

Subject to such specific regulations as may be determined by the Main Committee, the following standards shall apply.

  • In the Downstairs Lounge and the Men's Bar, Gentlemen shall at all time wear smart casual and if they wish, may dispense with the need for a jacket. For ladies, suitable formal attire is recommended.

If a Special Function has been arranged in the Downstairs Lounge, then the Main Committee may, at its discretion, specify the standard of dress applicable for such a function.

  • In the Dining Room, Gentlemen shall wear suitable formal attire and dispense with Jackets at Lunchtime, but shall wear shirts with ties, long trousers and Jackets after 7.00 p.m. Ladies may wear informal dress at Lunchtime but be more formally attired after 7.00 p.m.
  • In the Upstairs Lounge, before 7.00 p.m. dress may be the same as is allowed in the Downstairs Lounge, but after 7.00 p.m. the same rules apply as in the Dining Room. The Braimbridge Room will be treated in the same way as the Upstairs Lounge.
  • On the Terrace, the same rules apply as in the Downstairs Lounge.
  • Except in the Gymkhana sections, all the other areas detailed above, casual caps are not to be worn by the members or their guests.
  • Smart casual is now permitted at the Cocktail Bar on Fridays

Balloting days.

    1. A long trouser, a shirt, a jacket and a tie shall be worn by the proposer the seconder and the candidate being introduced to the committee members. Casual attire is not acceptable. Balloting committee members shall also have to wear formal with the Club tie and ladies shall have to wear formal with the Club scarves.
